- David_Brynmor_Anthony abstract "David Brynmor Anthony (1886–1966) of Kidwelly, Carmarthenshire, was a teacher and academic administrator. After graduating from UCW in 1908 with a class I in French and Romance Philology he moved to France where he taught and studied as a University of Wales postgraduate student. In 1910 he was awarded the degree of M.A. by the University of Wales for a dissertation on the poetry of the Parnassian group of French poets. Returning from France, for a number of years he taught French at Holloway County High School, London. Between 1914 and 1918 he served with the Royal Welch Fusiliers in Belgium, France, and Italy and was awarded the M.C. and Bar, the Italian silver medal for valour, and the Croce di Guerra. He returned from Italy in 1919 to his post at Holloway County High School, but remained in the position only briefly, acquiring a new position as Registrar of the University of Wales in 1921, where he remained until 1945. His last appointment, which commenced in 1946, was Chief Inspector of the Central Welsh Board (as was merged into the new structure when the Welsh Joint Education Committee came into being). He remained in the position up to his retirement. He died 24 Jan. 1966.".
