- Chen_Tien abstract "Chen Tien or Chen Tian was the head of the Central Propaganda Department of Malayan Communist Party. He was present during the Baling Talks along with the secretary-general of MCP Chin Peng and Rashid Maidin to discuss about the resolution of the Malayan Emergency which took place in the Government English School at Baling on 28 December 1956. On the other side were three elected national representatives; Tunku Abdul Rahman, Tun Tan Cheng Lock and David Marshall. However, the talks were unsuccessful because the surrender terms were not acceptable to the Malayan Communist Party and the disagreement of legalising MCP as a legal party in Malaya. A few weeks after the Baling talks, Tan Siew Sin, the president of the Malayan Chinese Association received a letter from Chen Tien, requesting a resumption of peace talks and the repeal of the emergency regulations but rejected. In 1960, when the emergency was officially declared at an end, he, together with Chin Peng and other communists continued their rebellion. After the talks, Chen Tien then left with the party and Chin Peng remained. Since 1960, after he retired from the Malayan emergency and politics, Chen Tien's whereabouts have been unknown as he was later no where to be seen and is believed to be dead.".
