An ardent supporter of Pop art and Contemporary art, her large collection of cups and saucers by artists was world famous. She began work as a curatorial assistant at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art in 1966 and helped to found the museum's Modern and Contemporary Art Council. In 1979, she partnered with art dealer Patricia Faure to open the Asher/Faure Gallery in West Hollywood. Before it closed in 1990, the gallery exhibited work by Morris Louis, Kenneth Noland, Sam Francis and others.
