While at WVU, she was a member of Alpha Phi. She is a recipient of the Distinguished Alumni Award from the West Virginia University Political Science Department and the recipient of the College of Arts and Sciences Alumni Recognition Award for public service, Cain has also received Honorary Doctor of Law Degrees from Ripon College, University of Wisconsin–Madison and the University of Charleston, West Virginia.".
