It is currently directed by Kathryn Daynes who is a professor in the history department which is part of the College of Family, Home and Social Sciences. The Center also works with the State Archives of Niedersachsen and the State Archives of Bavaria. The Center was organized in 2000 with Raymond S. Wright III as the first director. Later George Ryskamp was the director.
