- Adrian_Solomons abstract "Sir Louis Adrian Solomons (9 June 1922 – 20 December 1991) was an Australian politician. He was a Country Party (later National Party) member of the New South Wales Legislative Council from 1969 to 1991.Solomons was born in Tamworth and educated at local high schools. He attended the University of New England and the University of Sydney, where he graduated in law. He served in the 2nd Australian Infantry Force 1940–46, including overseas service with the 9th Australian Division. On 29 November 1944 he married Olwyn Bishop, with whom he would have two sons. In 1949, the year he was admitted as a solicitor, he joined the Country Party. He was a member of the New South Wales Advisory Committee in the Australian Broadcasting Corporation and chairman of Tamworth Celebrity Concerts from 1960 to 1967; he was also a delegate to the Constitutional Convention of 1976.Solomons was appointed to the New South Wales Legislative Council for the Country Party. He was National President of the National Country Party from 1974 to 1980, and was knighted in 1982 for services to law and politics. From 1988 to 1991 he was Chairman of Committees in the Council. Solomons retired from politics in 1991 and died later that year.".
