- AVCATT abstract "AVCATT (Aviation Combined Arms Tactical Trainer) is a mobile aviation training simulator developed by L-3 Communications, Link Simulation & Training for the United States Army. Unlike many other simulators, AVCATT allows for multiple simultaneous users. AVCATT is capable of being configured to simulate the following helicopter platforms: AH-64A Apache, OH-58D Kiowa Warrior, UH-60A/L Blackhawk, CH-47D Chinook and AH-64D 6.1/10 Longbow. AVCATT provides a flexible and portable training solution capable of rapid deployment and reconfiguration to meet strategic training needs. The AVCATT simulator is most commonly deployed in a two trailer configuration; each trailer can contain up to three cockpit simulators. One trailer houses an after-action review station used for brief/debriefing.Several companies supply the hardware needed for the simulator such as InterSense which supplies the motion tracking devices which are in turn used in combination with the head-mounted displays produced by Kaiser Electronics. Wittenstein supplies the re-configurable helicopter control loading system that provides the forces and dynamics of the pilot controls representative of five (5) army helicopter types.".
