The DMRC will receive a consultancy fee of 3.25% of the ₹ 55.81 billion (₹ 35.90 billion for Thiruvananthapuram and ₹ 19.91 billion for Kozhikode). The agreement was signed on 19 June 2013. However due to cost overrun and the cold response from the bidders the project was put on hold. Bombardier Transportation was the only bidder for the project.
