It is currently represented by Wildrose MLA Scott Cyr who was first elected in 2015. The district had been a stronghold for the Progressive Conservatives in recent years with candidates from that party posting landslide majorities. The Liberals also had a candidate elected in the antecedent riding from 1993 to 1997.This primarily rural electoral district exists in the north east portion of the province along the Saskatchewan border and is named after the town of Bonnyville and CFB Cold Lake.
