His district includes Delaware and Ottawa counties. Born in Lake Charles, Louisiana, United States, Loring grew up in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. He received a bachelor of arts in political science from the University of Oklahoma, where he also received a juris doctor. He practiced law in Miami, Oklahoma, serving as district attorney from 1991 through 1999. He then entered into private practice. From 2004 until his election to the House, Loring served as first assistant district attorney. He served 15 years on the Oklahoma Commission on Children and Youth, including three terms as chairman. Loring has served as a Cub Scoutmaster, Boy Scoutmaster and still serves as a Scout troop committee chairman. He enjoys camping, canoeing, hiking, rappelling and other outdoor adventures with Scouts.He lives in Miami with his wife, Barbara, a special-education teacher. Although the Lorings are not Native American, they adopted their two sons, who are Seneca-Cayuga Nation members, with help of the tribe. Sons David and Ian are Eagle Scouts and served in the U.S. Army."@en }
