Later in March 1997, the Burmese government conferred on Balangoda Ananda Maitreya Thero the highest Sangha title, \"Abhidhaja Maharatthaguru\" (Most Eminent Great Spiritual Teacher), which is equivalent to Sangharaja, in honor of his unique service to the Buddhist religion."@en }
