He was the second son of the first Baronet of the 1796 creation. The second Baronet represented Hertford in the House of Commons. The title became extinct on the death of the sixth Baronet in 1924.The Farquhar Baronetcy, of White Lodge in the County of Surrey, was created in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom on 25 October 1892 for Horace Farquhar.
