In 2014, he repeated his performance by finishing 6th in the European Individual Chess Championship, with 8 points in 11 rounds. He thus qualified for the Chess World Cup 2015 for a third consecutive time.He is currently the #1 Romanian chess player and regularly plays 1st board for Romania in team events. As of April 1, 2014, he reached his career-high Elo rating of 2660.
