- Bawitdaba abstract ""Bawitdaba" is a song by American singer-songwriter and rapper Kid Rock. Rolling Stone Magazine described Bawitdaba as "Grandmaster Flash meets Pantera". It was the third single of his Atlantic debut "Devil Without A Cause" released in 1998.The song was noted for its mix of rap and metal with the use of sampling. This was not the first time rap had been mixed with metal, however – Aerosmith and Run-D.M.C.'s collaborated on the remake of "Walk This Way" in 1987, leading to Anthrax joining Public Enemy for "Bring The Noise". Faith No More became the first rock group to mix rap and rock on 1989's "Epic". This led to rap metal outfits "Body Count", "Rage Against The Machine" and "Downset". Kid Rock went unnoticed in the genre after he fell into the underground after the fallout of Vanilla Ice in the early 1990s. As Korn and Limp Bizkit started becoming big, Atlantic went searching for a rap rock outfit and found Kid Rock performing in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1997. They saw him before once more in Detroit on May 30, 1997. After a two-song demo tape, he was signed. Once this song was released, it made him the most famous artist of the rap rock genre. These groups included Linkin Park, Saliva, Uncle Kracker, Crazytown, Bloodhound Gang and Papa Roach amongst others. The genre would become known as "nu-metal" but would fold in 2003, after the popularity of the acts faded with the exception of Kid Rock and Linkin Park. At the 1999 MTV VMA Awards, Kid Rock performed Bawitdaba and reunited with Aerosmith and Run D.M.C. on "Walk This Way".".
