- Apranik abstract "Apranik was a commander in the Sassanian Persian army and daughter of General Piran, who served for king Yazdegerd III. From childhood, she had an admiration of military. Soon, her Nationalistic Feelings which she had developed during her teenage years led to her involvement in the Persian Sassanian army. Like many successful generals, she quickly rose through the ranks, and by the time she had completed her education, she rose from being an officer, to a becoming a full commander of the Persian Army. Apranik became a tireless inspiration for her troops in defense of her nation against Arab Invaders. Apranik fully took the command of a major battalion of the Persian Army directly after the full-scale invasion and occupation by Arab armies and she led her devoted soldiers against the Arabs even after the loss of the Persian Empire and Sassanid Dynasty. She later realized that “Organized Warfare” with the Arabs or “The Desert Rats” as she rudely referred to them, who invade and hide, and then reinforce and invade again, does not work; therefore, she started a campaign of a treacherous battle against the Arabs. For years to come, Apranik first fought an official war and later on when all hopes were destroyed, Apranik started her Hit and Run Rebellious Campaign until death. Apranik’s Dedicated Commando Warfare was legendary and relentless. Similar to Alexander the Great's horse named Bucephalus, Apranik also had a famous white horse who accompanied her in all her battles.Apranik and her Ranks, never surrendered, they have fought an ongoing battle to the bitter ends. They chose to be cut by the sword rather than become slaves of the Arabs for the rest of their lives. Apranik became a symbol for the “Persian Resistance & Freedom”. Her braveries were so known, that she became the talk of the “Persian Resistance” and Persians created an expression for her! Every time a female soldier would have shown bravery in battle, other soldiers would smile and call her: “Apranik”. Apranik’s famous words and policies were great inspiration for the Persian Resistance against the Arab Invaders.".
