- Agent_Carter_(film) abstract "Agent Carter is a 2013 American direct-to-video short film featuring the Marvel Comics character Peggy Carter, produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment on the home media release of Iron Man 3. It is a follow up and spin-off of the 2011 feature film Captain America: The First Avenger, and is the fourth film in the Marvel One-Shots short film series. The film is directed by Louis D'Esposito, with a screenplay by Eric Pearson, and is set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), sharing continuity with the films of the franchise. It stars Hayley Atwell as Agent Peggy Carter, reprising the role from the films, along with Bradley Whitford and Dominic Cooper, the latter also reprising his role from the films. In Agent Carter, Peggy Carter faces sexism post-World War II while working for the Strategic Scientific Reserve (S.S.R.), a precursor to the fictional organization S.H.I.E.L.D.A Marvel One-Shot featuring Peggy Carter was in the works for some time before Atwell signed on to star in it. D'Esposito, co-president of Marvel Studios and an executive producer on the feature films, aimed to replicate the period setting of Captain America: The First Avenger, while also giving the short a more modern, superhero feel. The film was a more ambitious production than previous One-Shots, with more action scenes and visual effects required than previously. Several other characters from Marvel Cinematic Universe films also appear. The short was received positively by fans and critics alike, which led to ABC ordering a television series expansion, Marvel's Agent Carter, which began airing in January 2015.".

- Agent_Carter_(film) quote "Every director has a different style. Some need storyboards, some don’t, some hate them and can’t work with them. There’s some, obviously, when you’re doing big visual effects, you need visual pre-vis storyboards. We did a shot list and we couldn’t hire a storyboard artist, so what Brad, the cinematographer, and I would do is to go to the location and bring stand-ins or, in the case with the stunts, we had the video, and we bring the camera and lenses and we start blocking it out and start laying out the shots and we actually write them down. I like that, I like to visualize it in my head. Sometimes we would attach a photograph of the lensing or framing we wanted and… that’s what we’re following and that also helps with the visual effects. There aren’t that many but there are some complicated ones: when she’s flying with the gun into the door, that’s all visual effects. We were going to do a practicum but we ran out of time. So our visual effects coordinator – I turned to her and said, “I don’t have time to keep changing course, we have to go pure visual effects.” We were going to go with them on some of the shots and that’s how your best laid plan gets compromised or changed when you’re right there on the day. The last fight, too, when she’s being attacked by the big guy, we were really pushing to get the shots; we ran out of time and I had to really think on my feet. There were a couple of shots I missed, but it turned out great.".
- Agent_Carter_(film) quote "We doubled [Item 47s] budget. We didn't double the shooting time, but the scope of it is much bigger. It's set in a period, there are more actors involved, the scale's bigger, there are three fight scenes – we've never had that in any of [the previous One-Shots]. I think there comes a point where you can only get so big, though. It's not just the scope of it; it's telling the best story, and finding that story we want to tell – whether it's connectivity to the Marvel Universe, or it's highlighting a character. In the case of Hayley, it's a little bit of both. We wanted to tell Peggy Carter's story – she's been left back in the '40s. Announcing to the world that she was running S.H.I.E.L.D. with Howard Stark is a great connectivity. Also, we have the fun of it. Seeing such a wonderful actress in a man's world have her comeuppance on Bradley Whitford. Hopefully it's a rewarding and fulfilling experience for all Marvel fans.".
