- Acrobats_of_Desire abstract "Acrobats of Desire were an English post-punk band from Sheffield. The band was made up of performers who played violin, viola, cello, assorted percussion and a lead vocalist. The group's name came from Angela Carter's novel, The Infernal Desire Machines of Doctor Hoffman (1972). Mick Wilson, who has gone on to become a neoclassical composer, was one of the original members of the ensemble. They played at Futurama, a festival show, on September 13, 1980 along with acts like Siouxsie and the Banshees and Echo and the Bunnymen.Their EP, Parking Boys (Desire Records DES001) was distributed globally by Red Rhino Records in York and entered the independent charts in the UK and Italy. It was featured by John Peel on his radio show. It was released in the final year of their career in 1981 and is now a rare punk classic.".
