In 2010 she returned to the Chichester Festival Theatre to star in the revival of 42nd Street.She made her West End theatre debut in 1999, originating the role of Tanya in the hit musical Mamma Mia!, the following year she was promoted to the leading role of Donna, which she played for four years.In 2013 she was due to replace Julie Legrand as Madame Morrible in the West End hit musical Wicked but as of April 22, 2013, Plowright withdrew from the role due to ill health, and has been replaced by Harriet Thorpe.She met her Hungarian husband during the filming of Mack the Knife in Hungary in 1987. During the lead up to the 2012 London Olympics he was the national coach for the British Modern Pentathlon team.".
