He played 165 National Hockey League games in the 30s and 40s, including 9 in the playoffs. He played for the Boston Bruins and the Montreal Canadiens. He was a solid defensive player in the NHL. A useful checker and a great penalty killer but was given more offensive responsibilities in the minors. He played 447 regular season AHL games and another 43 in the post-season. His best offensive season in the AHL was 42-43 when he scored 19 goals and 50 assists for 69 points in 55 games for a 1.25 PPG. The next season, 43-44, he scored 20 goals for the only time in his career. After he retired from playing in 1946, he coached the Fenn College Foxes hockey team.Jim was married to Betty and they had 3 children; Peggy, Jim and Judy. They settled their family in the Highlands neighborhood in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Jim and Betty were both involved in the neighborhood church and very liked in their community. He has 12 grandchildren and over 20 (and counting) great grand children. Jim was a caring and strong man, well respected and hard working. He was incredibly humble and a great story teller.".
