The company aims to develop a total of 550 MW solar capacities in Karnataka, 100 MW in Andhra Pradesh, and 150 MW in Punjab.Welspun Energy aims to develop 1,000 MW of wind power projects by 2014. Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka are focus states for the company's wind projects. In Karnataka Welspun has signed agreements for developing two wind projects of 750 MW and 100 MW. In Rajasthan the company aims to develop a capacity of over 300 MW. A memorandum of understanding is signed with the Government of Andhra Pradesh to develop 500 MW wind capacity.In June 2014, Asian Development Bank made a US$50 million equity investment into Welspun Renewables, the largest direct equity investment in the renewable energy sector by ADB. Welspun Renewables is registered with United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) under the Clean Development Mechanism program of activities (CDMPoA). Through its wind and solar power capacities, the solar and wind energy projects of WEL have generated 1.1 billion units of renewable energy till date and have mitigated over 1 million tons of carbon emissions."@en }
