Ten years later he became Primus of Scotland, a post he held until his retirement in 1990.After retiring, he became an academic and author, earning the MPhil and PhD research degrees from the University of Dundee where he remains an honorary Research Fellow in Modern History, having previously been awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Laws (LLD)."@en }
