It is part of the Quality Schools International organization. It is an independent, coeducational school which offers an educational program to children of all nationalities, except for Chinese children, ranging from ages 3 through 18. There are 1,300 students at QSI Shenzhen, which is the largest international school authorized to offer the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program and also offers Advanced Placement (AP) courses. Currently, the school is slowly decreasing the amount of AP courses that it supports and increasing the IB courses. QSI International School of Shenzhen has four campuses; ECC, Elementary, Main Campus (Middle School / Upper Elementary), and a Secondary (High School) Campus. The elementary campus recently changed its location in the fall of 2013, moving farther away, but still staying in Nanshan, from the three other campuses that still continue to stand their ground in Shekou. The Shekou campus was previously QSI International School of Shekou (蛇口科爱赛国际学校). When QSI Shekou and QSI Shenzhen were separate schools, QSI Shekou served ages 2-18, while the QSI International School of Shenzhen served ages 2-13.The Shekou campus includes various types of school interacting events including the following: SDRC, MUN, SISAC, and Video Competition. This supports many sports such as badminton, basketball, soccer, volleyball, touch rugby, and swimming. In each of these sports students have the opportunity to make the A or B-team. The A-team has the authority to go to a sporting event known as SDRC where various schools come together and compete. SISAC is another competition similar to SDRC, however it is a competition specifically designed for B-team players within a school. MUN is another school interacting event that is an initial of Model United Nations where students voluntarily join, research, and debate about a global issue. Video Competition is another school-interacting program that has been initiated quite recently due to the fact that this school has a news studio.This school also has a relation or linkage between NJHS and NHS standing for National Junior Honor Society and National Honor Society (NJHS is specifically designed for Middle-schoolers and NHS is designed for High-schoolers). In order to get in this position of NJHS or NHS a student is required to have a GPA of at least 3.7. Once the grade section is qualified letters are sent to those students that has the authority to apply to this group. Next, the student has to write an application form about various sections related to the student's contribution to school events.
