In 1697, he succeeded his father as baronet. Ashburnham was a Member of Parliament (MP) for Hastings in the Parliament of Great Britain from 1710 until 1713 and again from 1722 until 1741. Between 1715 and 1717, he sat also for Seaford. Ashburnham was a Commissioner of the Alienation Office and furthermore a Chamberlain of the Exchequer from 1710 until 1755.On 7 June 1701, Ashburnham married Margaret Pelham, daughter of Sir Nicholas Pelham. Their marriage was childless and Ashburnham was succeeded in the baronetcy by his younger brother Charles. He was buried at Guestling in Sussex."@en }
