Menon received recognition for his overall contributions to Malayalam literature through numerous awards including the Kerala Sahitya Akademi AwardI.K.K. Menon was married to Chaenkalath Leela and their daughter Dr. Visalakshi Menon was Associate Professor of history at Jesus and Mary College Delhi University.
