The series was a satire to the communist rule in Poland, spoken in a way that it passed through communist censorship office. Due to the censorship, whole and even partial scenes had to be cut. After 30 years the show has undergone a digital reconstruction and filling with the deleted scene's parts that were found in the archives of TVPThe characteristic name is a result of a dispute among developers on how to name a new street in episode 1. Annoyed by the lack on consensus, one of them utters, \"There must be some alternative\". In 2005, one of the streets in Ursynów district, where the action takes place, was officially named Alternatywy to commemorate the series. The block where the series was shot bears a plaque that aside from the real street name (M. Grzegorzewskiej 3) also contains an inscription, \"formerly Alternatywy 4\"."@en }
