He was director of the Millwall Freehold Land and Docks Co., the Metropolitan Railway, and the Victoria Station & Pimlico Railway. He was a Deputy Lieutenant and J.P. for Kent.In 1852, Lee stood unsuccessfully for parliament at Maidstone. He was elected Member of Parliament for Maidstone in a by-election in 1853 but lost the seat in 1857. He was re-elected for Maidstone in 1859 and held the seat until 1870.Lee died at the age of 80.Lee married ChristianaReynolds, daughter of Samuel Reynolds of Theydon, Essex in 1820.".
