At McGill, where he taught for more than four decades, until his 75th birthday in 2002, his friends included then-principal David Johnston, whose eloquent tribute to Williams’ life was read out at this month’s memorial service. The four-word summation delivered by Williams’ colleague Rod Guthrie: “a perfect Welsh gentleman".He died on January 27, 2011 from cancer and a brain tumor."@en }
