Although Mary Alice sank within minutes, O-13 rescued her entire crew, including Captain William A. Gill, President of the U.S. Navy's Board of Inspection and Survey, who had been embarked on Mary Alice.O-13 was commissioned at New York City on 27 November 1918 with Lieutenant Commander Earl R.
