The site has been a source of jobs for many people in both Haldimand County and Norfolk County for more than 30 years. Ever since the first elements of steel were manufactured during the summer of 1980, this steel mill has produced materials for major industrial workplaces like General Motors and the other major North American manufacturing companies. A lockout and resulting lay-off of non-striking workers shut the plant down completely in 2009, with the plant not reopening until near the end of April 2010. Another lockout occurred on April 28, 2013 that finally ended on September 1 of that year with the steelworkers having a contract until 2018."@en }
