He is the longest serving President of the California Art Club (f. 1909) and a member of the Board of Directors of the Pacific Asia Museum in Pasadena.Adams has been a professional artist since the late 1970s. He has painted extensively abroad, hiking and painting his way across Asia on two expeditions in the 1980s, where he visited China, India, Pakistan, Tibet and Bhutan. Disguised as a Mujahideen, in 1987 he painted in Afghanistan during Russia’s long involvement there and then lectured on his experiences when he went back to the United States.
