This was Drogheda United's 13th campaign in the League of Ireland Premier Division since being promoted in the 2001–02 season.It was the first year that Robbie Horgan was the team's manager, with last season's assistant manager taking over from Mick Cooke after a club statement on 14 November 2013. However after a series of poor results, Horgan and the club parted company on 17 June 2014 after just seven months in the job.
