In addition to athletics programs, Lamar competes in UIL Academics, Academic Decathlon, and many fine arts activities. Lamar was the TMEA Honor Orchestra in 2005. LHS offers AP classes in the following subjects: English Literature, English Language, Latin, Spanish, French, German, Music Theory, U.S. History, World History, European History, Psychology, US Government, Comparative Government, Economics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Calculus, and Statistics.Based on the size, athletic success, and competitiveness of some larger schools, UIL and has created a Class 6A Classification as of February 2013.
