Prosecutors accused Ku Chin-shui of asking his nephew to bring gasoline on the flight.Initially Ku Chin-shui was convicted and sentenced to a 10-year sentence. It was appealed and shortened to 7 1/2 years. After a fifth retrial, Ku Chin-shui was declared not guilty. The ASC had commissioned an analysis from the Chungshan Institute of Science and Technology, and this analysis stated that the ASC's simulation environment differed from that of the aircraft which had exploded.
