KWPA WhidbeyAIR was originally an FCC registered low-power FM station with a transmitter located near Coupeville, in the center of Whidbey Island.The station suspended the low-power license, with FCC permission, September 28, 2011 due to financial costs of maintaining a transmitter and complying with FCC regulations for a low power FM station. KWPA WhidbeyAIR believes that the internet is a more effective and lower cost method of reaching people who are interested in Whidbey Island. Due to having been silent for more than a year, KWPA-LP's license expired on September 29, 2012, and the FCC deleted the KWPA-LP call sign from their database on February 5, 2014."@en }
