He was an Assistant U.S. attorney general for civil rights from 1960 to 1961. He was in private practice in New York City in 1961.On May 17, 1962, Tyler was nominated by President John F. Kennedy to a new seat on the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York created by 75 Stat. 80. He was confirmed by the United States Senate on August 1, 1962, and received his commission on August 2, 1962. Tyler resigned on April 6, 1975. He was a Deputy U.S. attorney general from 1975 to 1977, thereafter returning to private practice in New York City.He died on May 25, 2005, outside his apartment in Manhattan."@en }
