He was elected in 2000 and 2004 but did not seek re-election in 2008. He was the Senate's Minority Whip from 2004 until 2008.Eastman studied at Weber State University and Utah State University. Prior to his election to the Utah State Legislature, he served on the Davis School Board.Eastman was married to the former Claudette Crawford and they were the parents of five children.Eastman died on June 8, 2010 from heart failure.
