Upon his defeat in his final bid for mayor in 1917, he would retire from the civic politics scene.Active in the masonic lodge and the Baptist Church, which he helped establish in Edmonton along with his wife, Bellamy would continue to reside in Edmonton up until his death in 1927 at the age of 73.
