The slab inscription memorialises a state visit of King Pharasmanes II of Iberia to Rome with his son and wife upon invitation of Emperor Antoninus Pius, the visit also recorded into the History of Rome by Cassius Dio. The inscription is dated 141-144 or 142 AD, though recently it's more firmly dated to 141 AD to the consulship of namesake grandfather of Lucius Annius Fabianus who is mentioned in the inscription as FABIANVS. Additionally, Cyril Toumanoff instead of Pharasmanes II, identifies this Pharasmanes as King Pharasmanes III of Iberia, who was Pharasmanes II's grandson."@en }
