The 2.5 story wood frame building was constructed in 1870 and expanded in 1904. Its facade has Greek Revival features, including corner pilasters and a portico sheltering a front entry that is flanked by pilasters and topped by a two-light transom window. The portico, built in 1875, is supported by pillars that match the pilasters in detailing, and is topped by a flat roof surrounded by a low balustrade. The building was used not just for town offices and town meetings, but served as a civic center and meeting place for a variety of community organizations. In 1999 the town moved out of the building, which lacked its growing demand for additional office space. The building was turned over to a local community group, which is now responsible for its maintenance.The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2011."@en }
