The name 'Bundang Line' refers to the fact that the line was originally constructed for the new planned town of Bundang. The line starts in central eastern Seoul at Wangsimni, crossing Gangnam District and connecting the cities of Seongnam and Yongin, while terminating at Suwon Station.The Bundang Line was first opened in September 1994 between Suseo and Ori. It was extended from Suseo to Seolleung in September 2003. On November 26, 2004, a temporary terminal station named Bojeong was opened near the Bundang Line Train Depot, and on December 24, 2007, Jukjeon Station was opened between Ori and Bojeong Stations. On December 28, 2011, a new Bojeong station, as well as Guseong, Singal, and Giheung stations were opened. On October 6, 2012, the line was extended to Wangsimni Station and on December 1, 2012 to Mangpo Station. On November 30, 2013, the final extension to Suwon Station was opened, allowing connections to Line 1, and express service was launched. The Suin Line, which will see through service through the Bundang Line, is slated to open in December 2017, which will create a long line from Wangsimni Station to Incheon Station."@en }
