Until this gap is constructed, the segment already completed from California Boulevard north to its northern terminus at State Route 134 and Interstate 210 remains unsigned.Prior to 1983, the road was not an Interstate, although it was built to Interstate standards. Until 1964 it was State Route 15, but it was renumbered to State Route 7 in the 1964 renumbering because of the existence of Interstate 15, and to I-710 in 1983.
