The sessions were produced by John Congleton, as opposed to their regular producer Ed Rose. The band returned from the studio later that year and began mixing and mastering the 13 new songs recorded for the album.Peregrine is the band's first album with new drummer Nathan "Nate Jr." Richardson, formerly of The Casket Lottery, who replaced Josh "Cobra" Baruth. Lyrically, it brings the band back to the unified concept idea first explored on Mare Vitalis. The lyrics apparently tell the haunting story of Peregrine, a girl who is murdered by her father and who comes back to haunt him as a ghost.Musically, the album is a mixture of atmospheric, Low Level Owl-indebted instrumentals ("Ceremony," "An Orange and a Blue," "The Clock and the Storm"), tense, electronica-inflected songs ("Mountain Halo," "Woodland Hunter (Part 2)"), driving guitar rock ("February," "A Fate Delivered") and songs which return the band to their now-signature mixture of post-rock atmospherics with subtle arpeggiating guitar hooks and complex drumming ("Sunlit and Ascending," "Here We Are (Family in the Hallways)" and "Song 3.") As such, Peregrine might be the Appleseed Cast's most eclectic release to date, while maintaining their distinctive sound."@en }
