She died on 13 April 2000; after a long 2 year battle with cancer. a Requiem Mass was held for her at St Canice's Church in Elizabeth Bay on 19 April 2000, the church Marlene had married Ian many years before. over 400 attended, including many politicians as well as prominent public speakers.
