Owned by the city and Nez Perce County, it is situated in an elevated area, two nautical miles (4 km) south of the central business district.This airport is included in the National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2011–2015, which categorized it as a primary commercial service airport. As per Federal Aviation Administration records, the airport had 64,379 passenger boardings (enplanements) in calendar year 2008, 62,210 enplanements in 2009, and 61,737 in 2010.The 2013 Federal sequester will result in the closure of the airport's contract control tower and will require pilots to rely on air traffic controllers from other area airports. This is incorrect as another airports tower controller does not have clearance authority for another airport. As Lewiston does not have a local TRACON facility, pilots would have to rely on a center controller for control to an initial approach fix at which point an approach could be attempted. However this doesn't matter anymore as it is 2015 and Towers were not closed."@en }
