The team finished behind Indonesia and Thailand with a time of 40.62s.At the 2011 SEA Games held in Palembang, Indonesia, Tan anchored the Singapore team to the bronze medal in the 4x400m relay. In the race, the team crossed the line 4th, but was promoted to 3rd following the disqualification of unofficial winners Malaysia as one of their quartet, Yunus Lasaleh, failed a drugs test.It is the first time in 36 years- since the 1975 Southeast Asian Peninsular(SEAP) Games, and the first time since the formation of the South East Asian Federation in 1977, that Singapore men have finished in the medal placings for the 4x400m relay event at any major Games.At the inaugural 2012 Singapore National Games, Tan competed and won the gold medal in the 400m event. 2012 also saw Tan clinch the silver medal at the Singapore Open/U23 Track and Field National Championship in the 400m Open category, a feat he repeated in 2013.Tan is also part of the quartet that holds the current National Junior 4x100m record with a time of 41.28s, set in 2005 at the ASEAN Schools Track and Field Championships.Off the usual track, Lance Tan featured in Singapore's first "Race the Tube ", where he was the first runner of a 4 man relay team that chased the North East Line train from Little India station to Farrer Park station. As of June 2015, the YouTube video of this feat has garnered over 400,000 views.Tan was a former student at Victoria School and Victoria Junior College. He graduated with a degree in Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) from the National University of Singapore in 2012, and is currently working as a research engineer at the Agency for Science, Technology and Research."@en }
