Opened in 2010, Lake City College Preparatory Academy currently serves students in grades K-10 using a creative art-based curriculum. Lake City College Preparatory Academy is located in Lake City, South Carolina. On August 8, 2014 the State Charter School Board made the informed decision that it would be in the absolute best interest of the students to revoke the LCCPA's charter school license. This was done after numerous complaints concerning students not receiving the state required IEP educational support; a vast quantity of parents contacted the state charter board in regards to their students not getting the state mandated educational assistance with testing, reading, writing, and math. There were also numerous complaints logged with the state board as well as local law enforcement in regards to students being bullied; there were also instances of male students attacking female students and on one occasion, after a female student had been attacked by a male student for the second time, Dr. D. Brown (principal /founder) tried to prevent the parent from calling law enforcement. In many instances the offending students were not punished due to how it may make the school appear. There are also filed complaints from businesses with which the school worked, for non-payment of services rendered and/or loans past due. After LCCPA was given time to pay the amounts owed, file appeals, and make sure all IEP instruction was on a state mandated level they still have not been able to make the necessary corrections therefore the Lake City College Preparatory Academy has been forced to close due to their license being revoked. All students will attend the schools they are already zoned for unless other arrangements are made."@en }
