Harris was the son of Arthur Harris of Hayne, Devon and Kenegie, Gulval, Cornwall and his wife Margaret Davilles daughter of John Davilles of Marland. He matriculated at Exeter College, Oxford on 18 March 1603, aged 17 and was admitted at Lincoln's Inn on 10 February 1607 being of Devon.In April 1640, Harris was elected Member of Parliament for Launceston in 1621, Bere Alston in the Short Parliament and Launceston again in 1641. Harris died at Hayne at the age of 70 and was buried at Lifton, Devon where there is an incised brass. He had married twice:firstly Florence, the daughter of Sir John Wyndham of Orchard Wyndham, St. Decumans, Somerset and secondly Cordelia, the daughter of John Mohun, 1st Baron Mohun of Okehampton, who gave him a son."@en }
