He initially studied under Giovanni Battista Biscarra in the Accademia Albertina, and later learned fresco painting from Luigi Vacca. He married the daughter of the scenographer of the Teatro Regio at Turin. He illustrated Alessandro Manzoni's I Promessi Sposi (The Betrothed). In 1840-1841, he collaborated with Carlo Bellosio in painting the ballroom and a hall at the Royal Palace at Turin. With Bellosio, he also frescoed for the Castello di Racconigi. In 1844, he decorates the walls and ceiling of the theater in the city of La Spezia. In 1845 the Carignano of Turin and the next year of the churches of San Massimo, San Dalmazzo and the church of the Santissima Annunziata in TurinHe paints theaters of Asti and Vigevano, the Cathedral of Alessandria, the church della Sforzesca, and the figures at the waiting hall of the train station of Porta Nuova. He also painted many historical canvases.
