He played 42 times for Wolves before joining West Ham in 1936, and staying there until the outbreak of the Second World War in 1939. During wartime he played for St. Mirren and Bristol Rovers, and remained with Rovers full-time on the conclusion of hostilities in 1945. He spent six years with The Pirates, making 141 League appearances.
